AND BENTLEY CHASSIS. ------------------------- During the present Quarter we notice quite an epidemic of complaints of second gear jumping out when ascending steep hills. As this seems to be getting serious we give you below a list of the cars concerned. Whilst most of these are during the present Quarter, two of them are older complaints. 20/25 HP. Mileage. Delivered. GBA-49. Bowater. 26,470 20.11.33. GAE-18. Paget. 6,476 17.4.35. GWE-10. Wilson. 5,572 5.12.34. GTZ-14. Rogers. 11,985 31.3.33. BENTLEY. B.32-CR.{Mr Cra???ster / Mr Chichester} Aplin. 14,000 26.1.35. B.152-DG. Giles. 10,900 18.4.35. B.61-BL. Stott. 9,970 21.8.34. B.162-AH. Heaton. 13,465 26.6.34. B.17-BL. Ruegg. 12,500 25.8.34. B.161-CW. Meyer. 12.4.35. All these chassis have the same design of second gear, i.e., helical constant mesh gears with male and female engaging dogs. There seems to be no means of guaranteeing a cure. For instance, on Mr. Bowater's car the gears have been changed twice an we have this week been compelled to change the complete gearbox. In view of the above, it would appear that the trouble is fundamentally due to the design. Hd{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy}/SB.{Mr Bull/Mr Bannister} | ||
