A.{Mr Adams} Robotham, Esq., Rolls-Royce Ltd., DERBY. Dear Mr. Robotham, I am in receipt of your letter of the 8th inst., and wish also to acknowledge receipt of the 6 cylinder engine. We have not been able to work on this engine immediately on account of the contractors being in the works preparing our test house, but I have had an opportunity of studying the drawings from time to time and do not anticipate any difficulty: we presume of course that the head will be required in aluminium alloy. Referring to the fourth paragraph of your letter regarding the 2 stroke: when you were over we mentioned that we had done a considerable amount of work on the 2 cycle engines and with some success, as we are in the midst of certain comprehensive research work in which one or two alternative arrangements have been tried, and suggest that for the time being we go ahead with the 4 cycle addition, leaving the 2 cycle in abeyance until the completion of our investigation so that what is considered the best arrangement can then be employed. However, this matter can be discussed with you at length on the occasion of our next meeting. In the meantime, Kind regards, Yours sincerely, F.{Mr Friese} M.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore} Aspin ALL COMMUNICATIONS TO BE ADDRESSED TO THE COMPANY | ||
