We thank you for your memo.Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/IMW{Ivan M. Waller - Head of Chateauroux}/2/MH.{M. Huckerby}10.11.37, which has received our careful consideration. In view of your remarks and in order not to put you in a difficult situation, after thoroughly going into the matter, we propose taking on permanently Mr. Behnan and loaning him to you when necessary. Under these conditions, Mr. Behan being on Franco-Britannic staff, would be paid by us and would therefore rightly benefit of the advantages of a permanent job. This proposition would ensure you the services of Mr. Behnan whenever you come out; this, as you know, is by no means guaranteed under the actual system of only paying your man when you are at Châteauroux. However, as you will readily appreciate, in order that we may in turn, draw the best result from this combination, we should like to be kept somewhat "au courant" of your plans. For instance, it would help us to organise our work, if you informed us say a fortnight beforehand when you expect to come out. We note that 15.000 miles tests in France will be less frequent than in the past and some idea as to probable periods when Mr. Behnan will be required by you, would also be appreciated We trust that there will be no difficulty on your side to give us this facility and on this basis, we see no reason why the system should not work to our mutual satisfaction. As regards salary, we propose Frs.1.800.-- per month, which we think is a reasonable figure; this, ofcourse to be charged by us to R.R.Ltd. by Debit Advice when Mr. Behnan is employed by you.
