It is necessary for us to confirm the results on the bump test because it is noticeable that with the split springs that up to a certain speed they behave very well; it is at high speeds that the bouncing becomes violent. It may happen that after we run the solid springs at a bit higher speed they may get bad also. We are going to try this.

The weather at present makes it practically impossible to carry out any reliable tests on the road because the car over a bumpy road slides and skids.

We think, however, that we are doing quite right in stopping splitting any more springs.

The springs we used on our pre-war chassis were very rigid laterally, they not only had the solid bottom leaf but the second leaf extended right to the end of the clip, clipping the leaves together so much closer to the end of the spring.
