Dear Sirs,

For the attention of Mr. Grylls.
RE: DOUBLE EXTENSION JACKS.
-------------------------

With reference to the 2 jacks which were returned to us on Friday last, we have now dismantled these and found that all the cups, etc., are in perfect order, and that leakage was due to the tube slackening off in a gasket.

Is there any possibility of these jacks having been dismantled since they left our work? - in which case we would suspect that they have been re-assembled and not tightened up with the special impli-ments which we have here.

In regard to the effect of the stones thrown up by the road, on the lower portion of these jacks, may we suggest that a small steel shield, standing away and forward of the jacks, consisting of two pieces of plate sandwiching a piece of asbestos between them, would be effective; alternatively, a fairly stiff rubber "cuff" would no doubt help matters.

Yours faithfully,
AUTOMOTIVE PRODUCTS COMPANY LTD.,

C. CLENCH,
Development Department.
