For the attention of Mr.C.Clench.

Dear Sirs,

We thank you for your letter of the 14th inst., with regard to the leakage of the jacks which had run 20,000 miles. At no time have these jacks been dismantled in these Works. We should like to point out that almost every jack supplied by you has leaked in this manner, and that in each case all you have suggested is that we have incorrectly assembled them. As this is not the case and never has been the case, we think it is time you altered the method of locking these parts. If you will let us know whether this can be done we will send back to you the other 6 jacks which we have at these works.

Mr.Chandler tells me that when he saw you the other day, you were in difficulties with the valves of the hand pump. We do not quite understand this as the pump we now use gives no trouble whatever. We do not see why you cannot copy this valve arrangement.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.
