COPY. 86008. TC/732 23rd June, 1933. Messrs. Rolls Royce Limited, DERBY. Gentlemen, I would be obliged if you would give me your opinion on the capacity of the dynamo, as at present fitted to your 20/25 h.p. engine now in Tanks, Light, Marks llA and llB, to maintain in a charged condition not only the current standard 12 v.{VIENNA} 75 A.H. accumulator employed for ignition, lighting and starting, but also a 12 v.{VIENNA} 100 A.H. accumulator for a wireless set, which would be in parallel with the former and liable to charge at such times as the set is not in operation. The amount of charge required would be considerable for, for receiving only, the load is 3 amps, and for transmitting this is, of course, greatly exceeded. Further, prolonged periods of receiving with intermittent short periods of transmitting must be legislated for, although naturally the wireless apparatus will not, probably, be in use every day on any one tank. An early reply to this enquiry would be very much appreciated. I am, Gentlemen, Your obedient servant, (Signed) E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} B. ROWCROFT for CHIEF INSPECTOR OF ARMAMENTS. | ||
