Dear Sirs, E.2. WHEEL EX SET OF WHEELS AND BALLOON TYRES UNDER EXPERIMENT - CONDITION OF OUTER SPOKES. -------------------- Reverting to your esteemed letter of 14th ulto. and confirming our examination of the wheel at Derby, prior to its despatch to our Works. After a thorough enquiry, it transpires that the convex surface assumed by the outer spokes is due to one of the causes discussed at Derby, viz. the angle at which the depressions were made in the low pressure rim. This has been rectified, and the spokes straightened so that any apparent flaw disappears. The fact was, of course, established that there had been no displacement of the wheel shell. The condition drawn attention to was purely local, and as the writer pointed out at Derby, incidental to the production of odds and ends in low pressure form on an experimental, instead of production, basis. Yours faithfully, FOR THE DUNLOP RUBBER COMPANY LTD. J.S.Matthew. | ||
