From FERODO LIMITED. Sheet No. 2 Messrs. Rolls Royce Ltd. Derby. From the above it will be agreed, we think, that the mould is not at fault, and that in the belts themselves lies the error. We should at this stage make clear certain features of our examining standards. The angle is measured with the belt held as nearly circular as possible, i.e. in the shape it lies in the mould. It is very difficult to read this angle, even with a proper angle meter, to within 1 or 2°. Our measurement of spare belts out of V165 (i.e. EB.4202) is 43.5°. As regards top width, we have a tolerance of 1/16" radius on the corners, and it may possibly be this which causes the recorded top width of the 6 belts to appear low. We suggest that if you can you might return the worst belt to us for examination, and on receipt of this we will put in hand replacements which will embody such amendments as may be found necessary. Yours faithfully, FERODO LIMITED Mongley. Director. | ||
