To Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to EY. X5430 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1/LG5.7.26. 20 HP: STEERING COLUMN SUPPORT. X5430 The present 20 HP. cars being delivered are perfectly satisfactory as regards steering column rigidity as long as one or both dash brackets are used and the instrument board fixed in the scuttle. If we fix the new type stay to the present cars and scrap the present stays, the steering will be definitely less rigid than it is at present. We cannot see how we are justified in going to the expense of scrapping the present stays and making new ones for the few of the 20 HP. cars which are being produced with the present steerings. The opposition to the present stays has come from the coachbuilders. When we come on to the new steering it is probable then that we shall require the new stay. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
