X4557 Roy{Sir Henry Royce} c. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} BY4-P26.3.24. STEERING WHEELS. The standardisation sheet issue in connection with the use of the Dover wheel on the 40/50 chassis was turned down by Sales on two counts;- (1) The dia. of the wheel was wrong. (2) The form, or section of the rim was too small and was criticised from this point of view. To test out the new dimensions a new wheel has been instructed, produced with a cast centre and an I.R.G.P. rim, the reason being that Dovers could not supply a rim wheel as a sample without making very expensive tools. The issue will be decided on the diameter and form of the rim of the new wheel, which, when it is agreed to, would be submitted in the ordinary way to Dovers for them to produce, on the understanding that Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}, is in agreement with this. The Dover Co, will, of course, have to produce a wheel to our diameter and rim section, if, and when, the particulars are standardised. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} | ||
