Re. PLAY IN VALVE GUIDES ON NEW CARS. Ps.1/JP18.11.21. Our Works have on two or three occasions been compelled to fit over-size valves to post-war cars, due to excessive wear of valves and guides. To quote you an instance, chassis 58-TW (Mrs. James Corrigan) recently came in, and it was an impossibility to get good slow running without fitting over-size valves to No.1. and No.6 Cylinders. It was noticed that 1 and 6 were specially slack, but all the valves were in a more or less poor state. We cannot very well debit this expense to the client, as the chauffeur pointed out himself the excessive wear. Our invoice amounts to:- Time 143.00 Material 439.20 Fcs. 582.20. Will you kindly examine this question notifying us if you have already experienced similar trouble, and giving us your authorisation at your earliest possible moment to debit you with this amount. We might add that we have found quite a number of new cars on which the valves had worn quite a lot causing the formation of a shoulder just below the radius. Our order number for the work which we have carried out is No. 13942. Will you kindly quote this when referring to this complaint. Ps. | ||
