306 MARTINDALE File BY: C. Per. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/AFM.{Anthony F. Martindale} HPS.{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr} IHG. Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}5/HP.24.12.36. Phantom III Rear Brake Drums. Outside suppliers of C.I. Brake drums have suggested that the annular recess between the bore and the flange, and the corresponding rib on the outside, are both sources of weakness in the casting, and also of casting difficulties. There does not now appear to be any reason why these features should be retained, and we have accordingly made N.Sch.4980 shewing the modification to the rear drums. Experimental C.I. drums ordered from outside should be made to this. A similar modification for the front drums will follow in due course. Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} | ||
