R.{Sir Henry Royce} s/p Rq o/p Ry. 7/21 X4021 EFC6/T. 7th May, 1928. Messrs. North & Sons Ltd., Whippendell Road, Watford. Dear Sirs, We are still anxious to continue experiments with Watford 12-cylinder aero magnetos. Unfortunately, however, we have not yet received from you a pair of magnetos which will reasonably pass our latest specification. The Watford IS12. magnetos we have in our possession are only arranged with a 15º range whereas we definitely now require 30º. We understood some time ago from your Mr. North that you would shortly be submitting for test a pair of magnetos embodying a number of modifications, and we also received a telephone message informing us that you could supply magnetos with a 30º range. In several ways, e.g. weight, high speed performance, and Moment of Inertia of the inductor rotor, your aero magnetos should be definitely more satisfactory than others, and we should be glad to hear if you are now in a position to submit a pair of magnetos to our latest specification, copy of which we enclose. Yours faithfully, E.F.C. FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. Specn. dated 5.4.28 | ||
