Lines & Works Date: 18.7.1918 Re: Annulus Gear (broke on test) steel in the form of: one marked: Eagle received at works on: 17.7.18 received by: laboratory on: 17.7.18 CHEMICAL ANALYSIS. Carbon: .06% low Nickel: 4.95% Chromium: % Vanadium: % Tungsten: % Manganese: .46% Silicon: .08% Sulphur: .026% Phosphorus: .018% Remarks, etc. The case on the teeth was satisfactory & the core in a refined condition. Brinell on core 196! Bent double & back again. Section cut close to flaw line did not support the supposition: & the appearance was probably due to the way the annulus broke. Signature: JRDJ | ||
