-2- FAULTS REPORTED Petrol tank filler. The corrugated pipe was found cracked on a Thrupp & Mabberley car. The design of the boot did not allow sufficient clearance for the angle of the corrugated pipe which caused a fracture. Petrol filter in V and pipe line. Unnecessary bends which are liable to cracks. Carburetter. Throttle springs. Bracket could be fitted wrong way round releasing tension of spring. Cam for operating choke fouled boss of main spindle. Air leaks from plugs in low speed passages. Joint washer misplaced which caused fouling of pump. Gearbox. Faulty engagement of top synchromesh cone. Accelerator Countershaft seizure. Insulated Plug Terminals. Wire pulls out too easily is an owner's complaint. Breakage of front brake pull rod, known as the Dumb Bell rod. Two cases of the O.S. breaking. Plugs in Radiator Filler Cap breaking 4 cases. Flooding. ATTENTION GIVEN The Works have reported that this has been taken up with the body people to alter the design. The position of the filter is to be moved close to the carburetter. Meantime, the petrol pipe is to be cleaned up of unnecessary bends. Tabs have been made to make it impossible to fit bracket wrongly. The boss has been reduced in dia. Taken up with carburetter manufacturers, plugs to have full threads. In the past, joint has been disturbed for modifications. Instructions have now been given to see that joint is correctly fitted and locating lugs are in the slots provided. Have instructed Depot in bedding in of cone. The D.O. are modifying the levers to prevent the squashing of the anchorage tube. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Wst. to see how modifications can be made.
