E/HDY.{William Hardy}1/HP.2.3.36. Phantom III Gearbox. With reference to the scoop lubricating scheme for the 3rd motion shaft to N.Sch.4685, will you kindly increase the number of holes drilled in the spigot bearing journal on the shaft to six. This increase should also be applied to the shaft for N.Sch.4690 the taper mounted constant mesh pinion. On N.Sch.4685 we show holes drilled through the constant mesh pinion from the roots of the teeth to the bore. Will you kindly cancel the instruction for these holes on pinions for use with the scoop lubrication scheme. The 6 holes in the pinion slightly forward of the teeth remain unaltered.
