re 40 m.m. type BD{Mr Berend} Gun Aiming Handle
& Body Sling Attachment.

We have now completed the final design for the aiming handle and body sling attachment for the type BD{Mr Berend} gun. This is shown on CPL.1.8 the original of which is attached to Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/HH's. copy of this memo.

The rubber grip is made by John Bull and is registered design No.713949.

We have handed Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/HH. a sample handle.

The only modifications we shall require will be the changing of the chromium finish of the end ferrules to black finish.

The grip is fastened to the shaft by means of Chrysler Cement or any other better medium.

The attachment for the sling has been made in accordance with requirements of the Naval Authorities who have accepted the design in principle.

No detailing should be done at the moment of the chain or sling as we are negotiating with a firm in London for the supply of these parts together with the body strap and buckle.

As soon as we receive samples from them we shall provide a scheme.
