to Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} from Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} copy to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} RE SPORTS BODIES. From the attached data sheet giving the coachbuilder's suggested dates for delivery, it would appear that Hoopers stand a good chance of being first. The times given are for bringing up the surface, giving two coats of colour and one of varnish. It will be noticed that Barkers lose a whole week at Christmas. If we give the chassis to Hoopers in ten days time and give them power to put in all the time they can on the job & if their dates are true, they will have finished their car almost before Jarvis is ready for the dummy. We suggest that we could carry on quite well with two dummies. The second one need only consist of a chassis frame on axles, with the wheel at the back, a cast dash and a petrol tank and filler. Since this body is on a subframe mounting, it can be carried to a very high stage in its completion before a chassis is needed. We would strongly urge Derby to let us have the other dummy, if it is at all possible, as we have pressed these coachbuilders to the limit to give us what we want in the minimum of time. If, after this, we hold them up for the chassis we shall cause much ill feeling. We suggest, that when we have decided on a policy in this matter we should tell each of the coachbuilders approximately when they will get a chassis, so that they can work accordingly. We hope that this is the information which you require. EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} | ||
