By c. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. Wks. X S430 SFT{Mr Swift}11/EMM.29.9.25. 40/50 H.P. CHASSIS - "PHANTOM". NEW STEERING COLUMN AND BOX. In reply to memos. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1/LG.28.9.25 and BY4/H.28.9.25 - please note - with regard to the introduction of the .720 lead, if as Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} assumes, the Standardisation Sheet is completed in 4 weeks' time and that there are no serious alterations, then the new Steering could be available for production in 5 weeks' time, or one week after the Standardisation Sheet has been completed. We shall then be building approximately 100 on "W" Series. The new Steering affects about 22 new items including some lengthy jobs such as Steering Box, Rocking Levers etc., and the dies for some of the forgings are not yet completed, but good progress is being made on all parts. In the meantime the Works are proceeding 'hand to mouth' on those parts which will become obsolete, but in order to maintain continuity of output, it is necessary to have three weeks' supplies of worms and nuts in different stages of progress. With regard to the introduction of the .940 lead worm and nut - we understand that this would be introduced with the present type Steering and does not mean any additional new parts. This being so, Steerings with the .940 lead could be available for production within two weeks' time from receipt of instructions to go ahead. SFT.{Mr Swift} | ||
