NEW PHANTOMCodename for PHANTOM I FOR NEXT 10,000 MILES. X8940a

BJ22/H30.9.25. We propose taking up with R.{Sir Henry Royce}
the question of the 10,000 miles test in France. If we carry
out all the instructions which we have received, it will be
at least another 3 or 4 weeks before the car can leave. In
the meantime, the Works have been stopped producing the present
steering and they are producing the new steerings. The Works
have informed us that they will be in a position to fit cars
with the new steering in 4 to 5 weeks time. It is therefore
necessary that the 10,000 miles should be started as soon as
possible.

We hope to convince R.{Sir Henry Royce} that if we wait until the
car has all the new features he has conceived, we shall wait
for ever.

The alteration to the steering will have no effect
on high speed wobbles. The alteration to the steering will
reduce the road shocks transmitted to the steering.

At present, the only anti-wobble device which we have
so far is the hydraulic shock absorbers to the front and these,
from the tests we have already made, are going to prove very
unreliable fittings to depend upon for reducing high speed
wobbles. Experiments are still going on and we may be able
to make further modifications either before the car leaves, or
send parts out. We are expecting however to arrive at a
decision when this car should start the 10,000 miles test when
we see R.{Sir Henry Royce} tomorrow.
