47300 To By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} HE/Bwg.{J. C. Bowring}18/KW.14.3.35. Ph. II Clutch Trunnion Oil Feed. We have tried out two types of shield to prevent the oil from being carried away from the feed pipe by the air current set up by the flywheel, and suggest that to overcome this the trunnion oil cup is lengthened as shown in sketch. [Sketch of a lengthened oil cup and feed pipe] Sketch Text: 1.125" OIL FEED PIPE ANGLE REQUIRES SLIGHTLY INCREASING SLOT IN CUP TO PREVENT FEED PIPE FOULING It is necessary to slot the cup just sufficiently to allow the trunnion to move to and fro without fouling the pipe. We also suggest that the angle of the feed pipe is increased slightly in order to prevent the oil from creeping along the outside of the pipe before dropping. Will you please incorporate something on these lines on production. HE/Bwg.{J. C. Bowring} | ||
