Ho. √3465 PN{Mr Northey}5/DN/3.1.24. TO By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} c. to BJ. a.{Mr Adams} to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} FROM P.N. PROPOSED STANDARDIZATION OF LARGER STEERING WHEEL - 40/50 H.P. Various officials of the Sales Dept. have driven the car to which the proposed new steering wheel sent by you here, has been fitted, and we are unanimous in thinking that the bigger diameter proposed is desirable, but that the rim of the wheel sent is too slight and should be of a dimension larger than this, but smaller than that of the standard 40/50 HP steering wheel. The ebonite spokes also of the wheel sent by you, are too thin and sharp, having the effect on a run of 50 miles on roughish roads, of causing considerable discomfort to one's finger and thumb. The spokes should not be less in general "fatness" than the spokes on our standard steering-wheel. We shall be glad to see and try on a car another steering-wheel constructed on the lines indicated above, with a view to its standardization. P.N. | ||
