Wor{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}/Aly1/L15513. Alpine Mr Johnson. Mr Royce. May 15th. 1913. Experimental Dept. "B" Report for week ending May 9th. Final reports have been sent in on :- X.434 - Pivot test on Napier car. X.284 - Cut-out Spring. X.303 - Pressed steel silencer Nozzle. File X.2 - Double Rear Brakes. 15 may 1913 All three cars with these brakes fitted are in France. One is running a 10,000 miles test, another is touring with Mr Goulding, and the third is with Mr Royce at Le CanadelHenry Royce's French residence. Sx X.292 - Central Brake Liners of softer iron. We have a set of these liners fitted to a car and cannot notice any difference between them and the standard liners. The particular brake on which we have fitted them always has been harsh and screechy, it seems as if the trouble is with the brake drums varying in hardness and not the liners. This is a matter for further experiment. Experimental work is practically at a standstill, as all the men are away on the Austrian Trials and examining steering pivots. | ||
