Dear Sirs, We should be pleased if you could make for us for trial, 24 inner and 24 outer valve springs to the accompanying dimensions Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}192/3 in what is known as "Low carbon steel". Arrangement of the springs and winding as shown on attached drawing E.86364/5. This material we are informed is used fairly extensively and successfully and we are keen on giving it a run as an alternative to Chrome Vanadium which is our standard spring material. Up to the present we have tried various valve spring material without much success as compared with Chrome Vanadium, the "Low carbon" springs however have been highly recommended and we should be pleased if you will produce them for us as soon as possible. It would help us in our programme if you could give an idea of the delivery date. Any information regarding any other material satisfactory for valve springs would be appreciated. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
