Dear Mr. Manning,

In your letter to us dated March 22nd, you gave us a quotation of £7.4.6. each for the 6" longer frame (130" wheelbase) and £250 increase in tool cost against the 124" wheelbase frame.

We should now like to know the part cost of a similar frame 133" wheelbase having the sidemembers and the cross in the frame produced in 10.S.W.G. material. That is .128 instead of .104". We should also like to know the extra cost for tools to produce this frame when tools are in existence for the 124" wheelbase .104" thick material frame.

We find that some manufacturers make these tools in such a way that the material thickness can be increased. Although tools produced in this way may not be so satisfactory, we imagine that the saving in cost is considerable compared to producing new tools.

As we have had no trouble with the rivetted frame we propose to delete welding for the first batch of frames. The rivets used on our satisfactory frame are .437" diameter, .375" diameter and .312" diameter. These rivets up to the present have been put in hot. I think I can remember that you once said that there might be some difficulty using rivets larger than .250" diameter. I should be much obliged, therefore, if you could let us know if you can manage .437" diameter rivets.

Yours sincerely,
