X.4645 Copy From: JOSEPH LUCAS LIMITED. EOT/4 Well Street BIRMINGHAM July 17th.1924. Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd. DERBY Dear Sirs:- Magneto with Automatic Advance for your 40/50 HP. Chassis. We have gone very carefully into this question and the various points involved in your specification, a copy of which you sent us on the 2nd June. We are making up a sample machine which we hope to submit to you in due course but as it necessarily contains several novel features it is a little difficult for us at the moment to say definitely when we shall be in a position to send this along for your examination. We are however doing our best to lose no time and will write you again at as early a date as we can. When the writer was last at your Works Mr. Fowler Clarke mentioned the difficulty you had experienced in obtaining a suitable chemical resistance. We have ventured to send to you today an arrangement similar to what we ourselves employ in testing. We find that this resistance which consists of alcohol to which a small amount of Rose Bengal has been added to reduce the resistance of the column to the amount required has a moderately low temperature coefficient and remains reasonably constant for long periods. Yours faithfully. JOSEPH LUCAS LIMITED Electrical Dept. sgd. E.O.Turner. ENCLOSURE Nº 552 | ||
