For the attention of Mr. L. Shuttleworth.

Dear Sirs,

We thank you for your letter of the 30th ult. It is true that we had a most interesting discussion with The Budd Manufacturing Co. at Detroit and they showed us various samples of the brake drums they were making. We had arranged to call back at the Budd Co. before leaving America and discuss the chance of getting the drums we require made in England, but we were so pressed for time that we were unable to carry out our intentions.

We send you herewith drawing of the drum which we are at present using experimentally and should be exceedingly interested to know what you can produce for us in this country on the line of the centrifugally cast on rim. The drawing we are sending will probably in no way represent what you consider to be the most efficient and lightest design of drum and we should be pleased to receive suggestions as to how it is proposed to make the drum so that we can see that it will not foul any of the axle parts.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED.
