11. E.X. CHASSIS GENERAL CONDITION OF CAR AS RETURNED TO WORKS. WEIGHT OF CAR COMPLETE WITH WEYMAN TYPE LIMOUSINE BODY. FRONT. 1 TON 5 CWT. 0 QRS. 14 Lbs REAR. 1 TON 6 CWT. 1 QR 0 Lbs TOTAL. 2 TONS 11 CWT. 1 QR 14 Lbs ENGINE UNIT. Engine very smooth except for the usual 12 M.P.H vibration. Carburation O.K. as when car left this Dep't before going to France. Tappets noisy top and bottom, noises too numerous to locate definitely. Magnets very noisy; ignition relay link mechanism slack owing to badly worn pins and eyes. No appreciable piston knocks. Exhaust washer blown in joint of rear manifold to down pipe (New down pipe required without butterfly valve to suit water heated throttle bend) Timing gears rattle badly when dynamo is not charging, otherwise passable Oil pump gears very noisy. Oil leaks from sump plate, oil relief valve unit and lower half of timing case cover, otherwise engine very clean. Clutch stops too slowly; no jiggers. | ||
