The Penner steering people had almost exactly Maboni's views & his figures were quite in line so far as a possibility. The parts in which there is great wear of worm bearings and 2 big due to lubrication of roller Tippets in mesh. in the other bearings they do not wear but have just gone for cheapness to needles for the other end. Plain hardened thrust washers. The oil through the roller is deliberately drilled past Eight preventing distribution of the grease which they consider very important. They use white metal as press fit usable with cast iron manufacture. The water shaft is left mirror finished by the latest grinding machine & runs in oilite bearings.

One useful idea they have is to use a Triple Belleville washer with .010 movement to take up due to fair permanent set and loading of the worm. Bronze cases are said to undo any foreboding.
