Replacing dynamos on two 40/50 HP chassis following a complaint from Messrs. Hoopers regarding burning side lamp filaments.

Hoopers in connection with side lamp filaments burning out on five chassis, and although we have not had a similar complaint from any other quarter it has been decided to re-place the dynamos on two chassis viz. 89 MC and 71-RC{R. Childs}, which are at present in the hands of Messrs. Hoopers, so that the performance of these machines can be thoroughly investigated. We have written to Messrs. Hoopers for their permission to carry out this changeover, therefore in the meantime will you please prepare two new dynamos and arrange for same to be handed over to EFC. so that they can be tested in his own Department before they are despatched. The cost of supplying and fitting the new dynamos to these two chassis should be charged to Works Policy Account. When the dynamos at present fitted to the above chassis have been returned to these Works it is intended that these should also be handed over to EFC. so that he can carry out certain tests, with a view to finding the real cause of the trouble.
