X2924 MINUTES OF CONFERENCE HELD AT DERBY APRIL 27th, 1932. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} ---------------------------------------------------- Present Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} PN.{Mr Northey} Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} CHASSIS. Item 8 on agenda. General position of 'J.III', "Peregrine" and "Bensport". J.III Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} reported that J.III was assembled and in running order, and that certain road tests had been carried out. He said the results were not pleasing and a considerable amount of redesigning and development work is necessary before the chassis can be considered passably good. Parts requiring attention include:- Shock absorbers, Gear Box, Cylinder Head (new patterns required incorporating (self adjusting tappets) Single RR expanding carburetter(to be designed and made) and Frame. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} said that it did not seem worth while wasting time running the car until it was put into more satisfactory condition and most of the obvious defects removed. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} also added that while these unsatisfactory items were being rectified, the chassis should be left-handed, so that it is not taken on the road again with the right hand drive. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} reported that the design work necessary for left-handing was well advanced. It was finally decided that the car be run for say 200 miles as it is, and a complete list of obvious faults be made by Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} and submitted to E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} for design attention. The car is then to be locked up until all these items have been corrected and the left handing carried out. Peregrine. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} stated that a Peregrine engine would be finished by May 14th (Whitsun) but that little else for this chassis has | ||
