been issued to Experimental Department.

Bensport.
Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} said that this model was more backward than Peregrine as regards instructions.
E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} suggested that the Bensport type gear box be used on Peregrine instead of the scaled down J.III type.

Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} said this was a question for the designers to settle and that if the Bensport box will suit the conditions for which Peregrine is required, he had no objection to it being adopted.

(If Peregrine and Bensport gear boxes are made similar it would be better from a manufacturing point of view).

The position of the various sections of the chassis was discussed at some length, and the seriousness of the slow progress to successful completion of design and development work on the two smaller chassis was impressed on the conference by Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} and Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}

Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} repeated his instructions given on previous occasions, that the order of precedence of the three chassis must be

(1) Bensport,
(2) Peregrine,
(3) J.III,

and that this order must be regarded as of the greatest importance.

Item 8A. Not on agenda. 20/25 Synchro mesh gear box.

The troubles which are being experienced with gear boxes of this type were discussed, and Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} was requested to wire to Hancock at Le CanadelHenry Royce's French residence instructing him to demonstrate the difficulty with first speed gear to R.{Sir Henry Royce} at the first convenient opportunity.

Item 9 on agenda. Controllable shock dampers - position as per last minutes and recent memos from R.{Sir Henry Royce}

E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} reported that he was waiting to receive the designs from W.W. incorporating H's latest ideas.

Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} said he was carrying out tests and experiments with a roughly rigged up system, so as to obtain data.
