B.60 UNITS.

From the tests on the 1st. engine there are certain features which have been found desirable and should be included on the LOP., the necessary drawings being made accordingly.

Regarding the four units which you are going to build, i.e. Nos. 3, 4, 5 and 6, will you please do so to the following specification.

Crankcase.

All units to have inserted exhaust valve seats in accordance with the LOP.

Crankshaft.

No.3 as already instructed in accordance with up-to-date LOP.

Nos.4, 5 and 6 Units.

Investigations are proceeding with regard to balance weights and the crankshafts for these units should be held up in forged state until necessary information is available for procedure.

No.6 Unit.

As No.4 and 5, but in .4 carbon steel with modified drilling of oil ways ECD.977.

Connecting Rods.

Rods for No.3 unit as instructed in our memo Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell} 1/MH.{M. Huckerby}19.38, i.e. with Vandervell little end bushes.

Rods for Nos. 4, 5 and 6 with standard R.R. little end bushes.
