It has for a base the strongest purest vegetable fibre known. This is saturated to the very cell wall of the individual fibres with chemicals which give to the finished product the qualities necessary to resist the liquids and gases above mentioned. No rubber, rubber substitutes, oil or mineral products whatever are used in its manufacture. As an automobile and gas engine packing, “Tan Fibre” gives excellent service; it is light in weight, exceedingly strong, and sufficiently compressible to make a light, durable gasket, which can be re-used repeatedly when, for any reason, the flanges are taken apart.
