To G.W. Hancock Esq., Hotel de France, Chateauroux, Indre, France. /306 HB{C. E. Harcombe}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}13/KW. 26.6.35. SpectreCodename for Phantom III Brakes. The wing nut adjustment on 3-S-1 gives a brake clearance of .027 at the shoe centre and has a wing nut lift of .200. We think this clearance far too great with steel shoes. Will you reduce this lift to .125 (the pieces are not hardened) and see if you get trouble of the brakes losing clearance. We are sending you next week a front intermediate lever to give more front braking and a new rear equaliser. The one on your car was wrongly detailed and is over-stressed. Can you say whether the noise from the brakes is due to the excluders or the brass rivers. Clutch. With regard to oil getting on the fabrics, was the Bijur supply to the out board ball bearing cut off ? The bearing is not fitted and the oilite bush replacing the needles is self-lubricating. HB{C.
