CUT OUT CONTROL NEW PHANTOMCodename for PHANTOM I.

We are already delivering finished cars, the chassis of which are fitted with the new tubular rod cut out control.

Whilst this is more satisfactory and effective than the cable and spring type, it has the defect of being very liable to damage whilst the chassis is at coachbuilders.

It is, of course, a simple matter to inspect this and see that it is in order before the car goes on its final car test, and this is done; the rod being found in many cases to require straightening, after which it always has a little more spring than formerly, but it is impossible to make certain that a car can be inspected immediately before delivery to the customer by the coachbuilder, since after its final test in many cases it goes through the final varnishing process, floor boards are taken out for mats to be fitted etc. etc., and it is during this time that damage is very likely to occur through someone standing or kneeling on this rod which damage may never be seen by any of our Inspectors.

Already we have a report of trouble at the time of delivery of a car to its owner which has been clearly traced to damage to this rod on the final clean up at coachbuilders.

Do you think it possible to change the location of this rod sufficiently to protect it from such damage by some more robust part of the chassis?
