On our return to England with the above car, we were detained at the Customs Offices at Boulogne. The car has been in France for 8 months, whereas the carnet only allows for 6 months touring. We were questioned as to where the car had been, and what we had been doing during the extra time. They naturally assume that over and above six months the owner has either purchased a house or is running a business.

As you will be taking this matter up in due course through the R.A.C., we are advising you as to our replies and the questions we were asked.

The exact nature of our business was touring, and the 8 months were spent in visiting France and having repairs carried out at Franco-Britannic Autos in Paris. During this period we stayed at:-

Le Hotel Mt. Fleuri,
Rue de Grand Arme,

and at -

Le Villa Trianion,
Boulevard d'Inkerman,
Neuilly.

The owner was stated to be a Mechanical Engineer and habitually lived in England. The owner's name is Ivan M.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore} Waller.

They will no doubt verify these statements, so as to ascertain our movements in France during the last 8 months, and we have, therefore, deemed it advisable to forewarn you as to our replies.

The lamps were duly left at the Cricklewood Depot, and to my knowledge were taken to our Garage at Lillie Hall last Saturday.
