X2628 To Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from BJ. BJ7/H24.5.22. 40/50-H.P. Chassis. Re squeaking of Thick Leaf Rear Springs. With reference to Hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} 7/LG19.5.22, before giving a decision, we should be obliged if you would inform us :- 1. What is the value of the springs to be scrapped if we do not supply any more thick leaf springs? 2. Are thin leaf springs considered to be entirely satisfactory without either gaiters or shock-absorbers? C.J. and I are meeting Mr. Royce, leaving here on Friday morning. If you can give me the information early Friday morning or telegraph it to Villa Vita, Kingsdown, to reach there at latest by Sunday morning, this will be of assistance. B.J. [Handwritten reply:] Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} 25/5/22 As nearly as I can estimate in present circumstances we have in stock 260 Thick Leaf rear springs and the average value at Stock Taking at 31/10/21 was £4-10-2 per spring giving a total of £1173.
