EFC. C. to BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Hm{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs}/WW15/EW30.12.27. Re Replacement of Coils - 20HP. and 40/50HP. With further reference to the above matter, we now give you below copy of a reply we have received from Cricklewood, which contains the only information we have been able to obtain from them - "Thank you for your Hm{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs}11/EW23.12.27. "Unless we have misunderstood your previous memo "the query is "Why are so many more coils used at "'N' than are used at 'W'?" "The answer to this question is that we do not "think more coils are used here than at 'W', when "the proportion of cars received for repair at "'W' and 'N' respectively, is taken into account. "There also appears to be a supplementary question "arising out of this - "Why do we have to supply "new coils?". "The answer to this is that they have to be "supplied either to replace old type coils, which "are weak and have failed, or to replace new ones "which have failed. When an old type coil is "replaced it is thrown away. When a new one is "replaced it is sent to "W" for examination." Hm{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs}/WW. | ||
