-3- Report No. 1831. 12. Detonation. (Contd.) same time do everything that is necessary to make the slow running satisfactory to the driver. 13. Mileage run to date. About 20,000 since last overhaul. Previous mileage not known. 14. Tires. Dunlop and Wood-Milne. Driver had been very troubled by the noise which is caused by the latter type of tire. He had supposed that the noise was a mechanical one proceeding from the rear hub. Palmer tires were discarded some time ago owing to the harsh riding. Driver asked my opinion of the Rapson tire. I told him that I did not know what our official opinion was, but from my own judgement I should say that if Palmer tires have been discarded on account of the harsh riding it was not likely that Mrs. Bainbridge would care about Rapson tires. 15. Petrol Consumption. Driver thought not better than 10 m.p.g. "W" might well take a careful test of this when they have the car. I think it would be well to tell the driver what are the results of this test. 16. Owner's attitude towards us. See memo to follow. 17. Driver's attitude towards us. Excellent. 18. Type of body, weight of car, etc. An open touring body by Hooper. Weight of the car is said to be 35 cwt. 19. Exhaust. Satisfactory. 20. Brakes. Satisfactory. | ||
