Laboratory. H12/EA22. 9.26. RE. SAMPLE OF COMPRESSOR OIL SUBMITTED BY MR. ROBOTHAM 17.9.26. The above sample of oil has been examined with the following results :- Specific gravity at 60ºF -------- 0.894 Closed flash point ------------ 187ºC Total acidity --------------- 0.1% Viscosity. Temperature at which test was made. Time of efflux in seconds. 55ºF ---- 810 80ºF ---- 340 100ºF ---- 183 The oil at four degrees below freezing point centigrade was found to be considerably thicker than at normal temperatures but still poured quite freely. He/Rn{Mr Robinson} has further requested us to make a curve of the viscosity at varying temperatures. This will necessitate the obtaining of ice to perform further tests at lower temperatures but we hope to let you have a copy of the curve before the weekend. Hl. | ||
