X5840C To. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} From: O.W.H. Hôtel de France, Châteauroux, Indre. 23/2/30. We sent you a telegram on our arrival here, but did not state the conditions we found upon our arrival. The garage at the present moment is inhabitable owing to the floor being in the process of being concreted, and also only half of the slates of the roof are on. There is a host of workmen on the job, but it will not be until Wednesday or Thursday that we shall be able to utilize the garage. The work on this has apparently been left very late, and if it had not been for a representative from Paris being down here, I am afraid that it would have been another month before the place would have been finished. No instructions have been given with regard to a separate supply of water, so we are taking this matter up with Paris. Meantime we shall do what running we can under these conditions.
