SLOUGH, Bucks:

Dear Tsn.,

With reference to your letter of January 18th, we apologise for the delay in answering this, but it is only recently that we have found a justification for going forward with the problem of reducing reciprocating weight.

We should like to go ahead with the aerolite piston in magnesium, and as Brooks is now making all our pistons for us, if you have no objection we should like to give him the job. As he lives at Light Production, which is almost on top of High Duty Alloys, it should facilitate production.

We may have a go at the rod a bit later, but for the time being, I believe we can get more out of the piston. If we work to the limit of the material and the magnesium pistons, we can make a very much lighter rod than we are doing at present.

Yours sincerely,
