To Ilac 6142 To-E, from MFS/NH, [obscured] c. to Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} MFS/RR.1/VS.{J. Vickers}21.4.37. DYNAMO DRIVE LOP.E.87051. It is found that the "legs" of lockwasher E.87050 for the eccentric sleeve project through the latter into the crankcase wall, and to accommodate this it is necessary to remove metal by drilling 8 holes as shown on Ex.I.145. These holes have to be drilled by hand as it is impossible to machine drill in this position. After gear quietening, one hole in the eccentric sleeve is selected for the locating dowel. It is then necessary to dismantle the unit to open the hole out from .250 dia. to .281 dia. and fit the locating dowel. Suggest the use of a double lockplate as shown on Ex.I.145; this does not depend upon legs for location and would delete the hand drilling operation. Suggest also that the locating dowel be deleted and a suitable identification mark be stamped on eccentric sleeve and crankcase to denote the correct position. This would obviate the dismantling and assembling after gear quietening. H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} Hellingworth. | ||
