SHELL-MEX LIMITED.

We attach a copy of a letter from Shell-Mex Ltd.

Unless you have been able to make tests which have satisfied you that the oils they mention are suitable for R.R. cars, please write to the Shell-Mex Company, saying that any tests we have made so far have not convinced us that these oils would be as suitable for use on our cars as the oils which we recommend. It would obviously be impossible for us to undertake immediately to test every oil a customer may send to us, to ascertain whether it was satisfactory and would affect the Guarantee. Our Experimental Department is extremely busy now, but should we find an opportunity of making tests required in the near future, we will let them know. Should any customer particularly wish to use any particular lubricant, on hearing from the customer direct, we should give the matter our attention and communicate with him suitably, especially if the customer informed us why he particularly wished to use any other kind of lubricant than that which we have specially recommended as being suitable for use on our cars.

It seems to me that the Shell-mex are trying to force our hand to make these tests to oblige them.

B.J.
