Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd.

Dear Sirs,

We have received information from our Birmingham Divisional office to the effect that a Mr. Cornelius of Much Wenlock, Salop, has purchased a Rolls-Royce car and has particular reason for using Super Shell Light oil for the engine and Shell Gear oil for the transmission. Before doing so he wants to ascertain whether the Rolls-Royce guarantee holds good if he uses any other lubricant than those you recommend officially, and with this in mind, has asked us for samples which he proposes to submit to you for examination.

The samples, we believe, have been handed to Mr. Cornelius by our Birmingham service and we now write to ask whether, in view of trials you have made of our Super Shell oil in both car and aviation engines, you have any objection to your clients using this lubricant if they wish so to do.

Many Rolls-Royce owners interested in this Company, very naturally desire to use its products, and often ask our advice. Although we have received no complaints and are sure of the suitability of the products we recommend, we should like to feel that we have your concurrence, and that your guarantee to the owner of the car is in no way prejudiced.

Yours faithfully,
For SHELL-MEX LIMITED,

(Sgd.) L. Callingham,
Manager - Motor Oils.
