H.E. West, Esq.,
Messrs. Rolls-Royce, Ltd.,
DERBY.
Dear Mr. West,
I have yours of the 13th instant, and will write you in the course of a day or so about a visit to Derby by either Mr. Chapman or myself.
I note that you have decided not to go into production with the very thin plate battery until further tests are made and that as we happen to offer these, we are in a temporary state of eclipse! This is very easily overcome by our offering the same plates as Exide have offered you and as we have supplied in the past thus giving an identical job which should not result in any eclipse. Our reason for putting forward the thinner plate was that taking all the various factors into consideration we thought it was likely to be the more satisfactory battery of the two but if you want more experience of it, shall we forget about offering these to you for production work now and offer you the thicker plate as Exide?
Yours sincerely,
GRMinchin
