We send you herewith drawing No.LeC.1606 shewing the above. After seeing the specimens of steering tube supports recently received at WW. Mr. Royce remarks that we shall very likely require the new design - N.sch.1303. In dealing with the longitudinal control tube the steering box bracket has been made to act as a support, thus cancelling the present sheet metal bracket at the front end. This calls for some alteration to the steering box bracket shewn on N.sch.1303. We think that with the arrangement shewn it will be possible to withdraw the longitudinal control tube after detaching all loose levers and rods without disturbing the water pump or any other unit. We would draw you attention to the angles shewn for the levers connected to the vertical push rod near the dash, which operates the throttle. The men in the Shops when assembling the control gear should work to these angles on all Goshawk chassis. Mr. Royce found on the limousine which came to WW. for his inspection that this particular portion of the control was put up in such a manner that it actually accelerated the opening of the butterfly throttle at the beginning of its stroke, and that there was a very large amount of lost movement before the accelerator pedal picked up the longitudinal shaft.
