CONTACT BREAKER POINTS ON STANDARD MAGNETOS.

On experimental chassis we appear to suffer now and again from premature burning away of the platinum contact points on magnetos, but curiously enough we do not receive any complaints from other directions.

It has been surmised, and for some time it has been strongly urged by makers of the magnetos, that this has been due to the presence of hydro carbon vapours of either oil or petrol, but in the course of our numerous tests we consider we have proved to them that this cannot be the case.

What we are anxious to have from you is a report of your experience generally of the life of platinum contact breaker points on Watford E.W.6. magnetos on Phantom chassis.
